Mormon History with a side of Wine

Treat your guests to a three-hour field trip to discover historic sites in the Salt Lake City area tied to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormon) religion, while tasting fine wines that have been selected to reflect these interesting locations. At each stop, a field trip teacher will educate the guests on the historic location, its importance to the Mormon church, and its present-day significance. Guests will see each historic site and then, will enjoy wine pairings enroute to the next location. Light, paired nibbles are included.
  • Pick up at Salt Lake hotel – Guests board the vehicle and hear about early Mormon history.
Driving wine: A sparkling wine to highlight the breweries that Brigham Young owned
  • Stop One: The LDS Family History Library – A glimpse into the resources available for anyone (not just Mormons) to find relatives, connections to famous people, etc.
Driving wine: A tasty Utah Rosé made in Park City, Utah
  • Stop Two: Beehive and Lion Houses – Part of Brigham Young’s original estate where many of his 56 wives and 57 children lived... you'll even see Brigham Young's bedroom as it was in the 1800s.
Driving wine: A boutique Pinot Noir from Sonoma County or a Utah-owned Tuscan wine
  • Stop Three: The Utah Capitol – Brigham Young was Utah’s 1st governor. What happened before and after the state became official.
Driving wine: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a famous red to pair with spilled blood caused by Rockwell
  • Stop Four: Avenging Angel – A stop highlighting Brigham Young’s bodyguard, Porter Rockwell, and his violent career protecting the church.
Driving wine:  A 20-year Tawny Port to highlight the red rocks of the Outlaw Trail
  • Stop Five: A Saint and A Sinner – An outlaw born in Utah, Butch Cassidy specialized in robberies and was instrumental in creating the famous Outlaw Trail from Mexico to Canada through the Rockies.
  • Return to your hotel - With big smiles, great photos, and a take-home, logo'ed momento
